🕹 Twitch as a marketing platform

Quick question: How many youngsters do you see regularly enjoying traditional media forms such as newspapers or television?

Exactly: zero.

Media consumption is changing - new platforms are taking over. In our newest blog post, neon's Chief Content Officer, Sacha Schmitz, deconstructs Twitch and explains how you can use it for your brand's marketing strategy.

🚀 Google launches updated Google Analytics

Thanks to constant updates, Google Analytics has always been the analytics tool for beginners and experts alike. This leading position in the market was reconfirmed when Google recently unveiled its newest version of the tool.

For example, it will implement predictive metrics and machine-learning features that keep track of key data trends. In case you didn’t work with GA for some time, have a look at all the new possibilities.

Speaking of new possibilities: Another story about Google you should not have missed is its introduction of... well... 'stories'. Read more here

🖌 Adobe Photoshop gets new AI-based features

Google wasn't the only owner of a market-leading digital tool that has gotten some fresh new updates. Adobe announced the implementation of a couple of new AI features for Photoshop.

Besides new selecting tools and a wide range of so-called 'neural filters', the new 'sky replacement' option is one of the highlights in the latest version of PS. You can find out more in this article.

📲 Facebook opens Messenger API to Instagram messaging for businesses & much more

Another major player, another update: Facebook notified the public that its Messenger API has been opened to allow businesses to manage their communications across Instagram in addition to Messenger. This follows the recent update of cross-app communication and other features shared between the two messaging platforms. After all, Facebook's apps are slowly but steadily getting more and more integrated as it has been awaited for a long time.

You can read more on the API announcement here.

BTW, on a different note, did you realize already that Facebook has started to shrink its attribution window?

And, that Zuck and his team are also experimenting with a 'neighborhood' feature? Oh, aaaaand that FB is planning to take on the likes of Wix and GoDaddy with a free website builder?

📈 Snap reported stronger-than-expected earnings

After all the headlines regarding Facebook, let's have a look at Snap - the company that gave much inspiration to FB for stea... um... implementing engaging features like the beloved 'stories' from its app Snapchat.

We'll keep it short with this one: Snap has made more money in the last quarter than analysts had expected. This sent its stock price soaring.

What a time to be Evan Spiegel.

But in fact, it's now also Snapchat's turn to implement features that its team might have fallen in love with somewhere else

💡 Talkwalker & Hubspot release "Social Media Trends 2021" report

Luxembourg's very own Talkwalker recently teamed up with another marketing services powerhouse to look ahead to what 2021 might bring for social media.

Together with Hubspot, the social listening platform's team has spoken to dozens of industry professionals and analyzed the social web, looking for indicators of what we can expect for the coming year.

If you want to know more about the "4 C's of COVID-19 content" and the impact of socially conscious audiences, look no further and download the report here.

❌ LinkedIn has a 'Fakefluencer' problem

In our last newsletter, we shared that LinkedIn had recently launched a redesigned version of its platform, adding several new features.

(Stories, anyone...?)

We mentioned that LinkedIn overall wants to appear 'warmer' to its users. What's not so heart-warming though is this recent article by OMR. In the age of social media influencers, there surely is also no shortage of shady 'business influencers' on the world's largest professional networking platform...
