🎯 iOS 14.5 update and its implications for Facebook Ads

We covered the 'Apple vs. Facebook' saga related to iOS 14 already in the more recent editions of our newsletter. As some of the privacy updates that Apple announced will become mandatory soon, we would like to share a helpful summary of the looming implications for Facebook Ads with you. Online marketing expert Navah Hopkins highlighted a few things you should know to handle the impact of the upcoming iOS 14.5 update in a useful Twitter thread.

By the way, Facebook Analytics will no longer be available after 30 June 2021. There are other tools provided for understanding your activities on the platform though. Read more here.

💥 TikTok keeps pushing

We have written about TikTok many, many times by now... and we won't stop as the short-form video platform constantly keeps pushing out great new updates.

On the one hand, TikTok is testing a new 'Seller University' as the company looks to expand its e-commerce push.

On the other hand, TikTok announced a new 'Playlists' feature with selected creators, which enables users to group their TikTok clips into themed collections.

And, lastly, the popular app has rolled out a Q&A function so that creators can connect and engage in a new way.

📈 LinkedIn adds a 'Creator Mode' and more

Even though LinkedIn has been around for 19 years already, it keeps adding innovative features. Recognizing the growing importance of the 'creator economy', the platform is launching a 'Cover Story' feature and a 'Creator Mode'.

Among others, the new mode will move your 'Featured' and 'Activity' sections to the top of your profile and the 'Connect' button will turn into a 'Follow' option so that people can get updated about your content more easily.

LinkedIn is also getting serious about 'Social Audio' - more on that growing trend in the paragraph below.

📻 Social Audio is on the rise

In January, we published our assessment of 2021's hype app Clubhouse. Back then, we already predicted that 'Social Audio' is here to stay.

Since then, almost all major online platforms launched their own versions of Clubhouse-like features, or are at least they are working on them.

Just to name a few: Twitter acquired podcasting company Breaker and plans to let users host 'Spaces' from April onwards, Facebook is looking to launch an audio-only version of its 'Rooms' feature, Instagram leveled up its 'Live' streaming option, some new startups are popping up, and Spotify has now also entered the game through the 'acqui-hire' of a popular live-audio platform.

Watch (or listen to) this space as there are plenty of opportunities for businesses currently taking shape.

💎 Why NFTs are the future of digital content

In the last newsletter, we shared an article by Rex Woodbury about the "Digital Art, Crypto, & the Metaverse" to give you an introduction to the topic that is here to stay like almost no other.

This time, it is neon's very own co-founder & CEO Misch Strotz who wrote down his thoughts about the potential of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Find out why they are the future of digital content and what a German-speaking podcast has to do with it in his recent article on LinkedIn.

🌍 The 50 most visited websites in the world

“A picture says 1000 words, and maybe a meme says 10,000 words”, as the old saying (by Elon Musk) goes. That's why we would have loved to share some of our favorite memes with you here - but we opted for another interesting article instead.

If you've ever wondered, which websites are currently most popular on the world wide web, make sure to hit the button below. We're sure that you would have guessed a lot of the top ones, but certainly, there are some that are not in the public spotlight that often.

With the continuous rise of TikTok, among others, it will be interesting to see what this 2020 visual overview will look like one year from now.
