👨‍🎓 Two more courses are live on the neon academy!

This month, we launched not just one but two new neon academy courses!

To kick it off, neon's very own Ivan Cardoso launched his first online class, teaching Instagram for Beginners’

As an Influencer Manager at neon, Ivan spends a lot of his time observing the development of the industry and IG in particular. So sit back and enjoy watching him showing you around in his backyard, telling you how to get started on the platform!
The second course published in April is hosted by no other than Charly Schwarz - one of Luxembourg's most successful online creators. As a photographer, Charly has managed to build a big audience online.

With his breathtaking landscape shots and entertaining videos on IG and TikTok, he knows all about taking photos and filming - especially oneself. That's why he teaches you everything you need to know about 'How to film yourself' in his course.

🎧 Facebook enters the Social Audio game

In our March newsletter, we highlighted the emergence of Social Audio. After Clubhouse's meteoric rise to a $4bn valuation in just 12 months, basically, all major social media platforms as well as Spotify felt the urge to announce the upcoming launch of their own 'live audio experiences'.

Now, Facebook also wants you to 'be heard' more. Read all about its audio plans involving 'Soundbites', FB's Live Audio Rooms, and also regular podcasts in its latest press release on the subject matter.

🎯 TikTok launches lead generation ads

Every brand and marketer should have understood by now that TikTok is here to stay. The amount of new features the short-form video platform keeps launching shows that it is serious about offering the best possible experience for entertainment and conducting business for users, creators, and companies alike.

This week, TikTok announced the introduction of 'Lead Generation' ads to enable businesses to reach and drive customer acquisition with ease. Find out what it's all about

🚫 Browser makers are ditching Google's cookies alternative (already)

There have been some updates on Google's cookies alternative 'Federated Learning of Cohorts' (FLoC) in recent months that should definitely not have gone unnoticed by digital marketers. Since cookies are a highly efficient way to leverage targeted online ads, it will be interesting to see how the 'new way of doing things' proposed by Google will actually play out once it is live.

On that note, privacy-centric browser Brave and browser extension DuckDuckGo have decided to already block Google’s new method of tracking and targeting ads. Mozilla also has no plans to implement FLoC in its Firefox browser. Digiday explains everything in more detail.

💡 Reddit launches new 'Ads Formula' education platform

The 'GameStop Saga' at the beginning of the year, surely put Reddit on the map also for people who had not been familiar with it yet. In fact, the platform might still get underestimated by some - but that should definitely not be the case. With a new major funding round and ambitious growth plans that were announced not too long ago, Reddit is gaining significance by the day.

That's why its newly launched 'Ads Formula' education platform is an exciting update for everyone who would like to tap into Reddit's user base with ads. It features the latest on Reddit's ad solutions, industry insights, creative best practices, seasonal moments, and more. Social Media Today has all the info you need to know about it.

📈 Content-driven growth

After we shared some explanations about the potential of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in our recent newsletter editions, it is time to look again at a topic that does not involve the Ethereum blockchain.

This insightful analysis by Lenny Rachitsky on how to use content to grow as a (tech) company, is definitely a great read - especially if you wonder why putting resources into editorially-generated, search engine optimized content makes so much sense.

A little sneak peek: "Create assets of value for your audience vs. pay money to interrupt them via traditional advertising."

🌍 The Global State of Digital 2021 (Q2 update)

With regard to the recommended article above, Hootsuite is one of the companies that put a lot of effort into publishing great editorial content.

Its annual "Global State of Digital" report is definitely a must-read for everyone who wants to understand better where we are headed in terms of the state of the internet, mobile, e-commerce, gaming, cryptocurrency, social media, ad spending, search behaviors, and more.

Over the course of 200 slides, the Q2 2021 update presentation offers lots of interesting insights.
