See “Nepal” and you probably think “mountains”. But take a quick look at the challenge rating up there and you’ll realise that this trip to Nepal isn’t like the rest of them. You won’t be climbing Everest or freezing your, err, “bits” off on Mera Peak on this adventure. But an adventure it most definitely is.

  • Day 1: DEPART UK

    DEPART UK You will meet your Bucket List Leaders at the airport and fly out as a group for Bucket Lister + Trips. If you have booked a Bucket Lister Trip we will see you in Nepal soon!

  • Day 2: ARRIVE IN KATHMANDU

    ARRIVE IN KATHMANDU If you have transfers with us we will take you to the hotel. For those making their own way, we will see you in Kathmandu. The rest of the day is spent at your leisure. You can either explore the sights of Kathmandu or simply relax and recuperate ready for an exciting trip ahead. Special Information: Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 6 pm today.

  • Day 3: KATHMANDU: CITY TOUR OF BOUDANATH STUPA, PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE AND PATAN CITY

    KATHMANDU: CITY TOUR OF BOUDANATH STUPA, PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE AND PATAN CITY After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we will head off for a sightseeing tour. First, we will visit Boudanath Stupa, which is located around eight kilometres east of Kathmandu. Boudanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world and is considered to be the centre of Buddhism. Next, we will continue to Pashupatinath Temple - the temple of Lord Shiva. We will marvel at its golden roof and impressive architecture, before visiting Patan Durbar Square. The highlight here is Krishna Mandir, a temple that was built in the seventeenth century, featuring 21 spires completely made of stone. This is a fascinating day, full of ancient Nepali culture waiting to be discovered.

  • Day 4: CITY TOUR OF KATHMANDU DURBAR SQUARE AND BHAKTAPUR CITY

    CITY TOUR OF KATHMANDU DURBAR SQUARE AND BHAKTAPUR CITY Today is day two of our cultural experience in the enthralling city of Kathmandu. After breakfast, we begin the day by visiting the famous Durbar Square. Laden with old temples and palaces, Durbar Square epitomizes the religious and cultural life of the Nepali people. There are countless interesting sites to explore here, including Nyatapola Temple, Taleju Temple, the statue of King Pratap Malla, the Big Bell, Great Drums, and the Jagannath Temple. We will then continue to visit Swoyambhunath Stupa. Sat atop a hillock, this is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal. There is then the option to extend the tour to visit Changunarayan Temple, which is located on the hilltop and is dedicated to Vishnu. According to a fifth-century stone inscription on the temple, the building is sixteen hundred years old! After a full day of cultural immersion, we will return to Kathmandu, where you can visit local shops and restaurants for the evening.

  • Day 5: FLY TO POKHARA AND CITY TOUR

    FLY TO POKHARA AND CITY TOUR This morning we will rise early to fly to Pokhara. After a short rest and quick showers at the hotel, we will begin our city tour of Pokhara. Pokhara has a completely different energy to Kathmandu and is an entrancing city to visit. We will explore the serene shores of Phewa Lake, with its temple sitting right in the middle of the water. The water of the lake beautifully reflects the Annapurna range that sits behind it, and the colourful canoes that line the shores make for a very picturesque scene. The lake can be explored in canoes, locally known as doongas, and you can also swim or fish in the waters if you so choose. The evening will be at your leisure to explore the delights of Pokhara city. Make time to stop by the Women's Skills Development Institute to browse their beautiful handicrafts, and sample some Nepalese food in a local restaurant.

  • Day 6: DRIVE TO KANDE AND HIKE TO AUSTRALIAN CAMP (2100M)

    DRIVE TO KANDE AND HIKE TO AUSTRALIAN CAMP (2100M) We start our day with a drive to Kande (around 35 minutes). We drive through a large Tibetan camp at Hyanjha where local handicrafts can be purchased and the weaving of Tibetan carpets can be observed. Starting trekking from Kande, we start walking uphill to Australian Camp. This takes about 1.5 hours of easy walking up the stairs through the terraced rice field. Along the hike, you can see very impressive views of the Annapurna Range including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Annapurna II and IV, and Lamjung. Despite its name, Australian Camp is a large Gurung village, where there are several tea houses and lodge accommodations; we will overnight at a tea house.   

  • Day 7: HIKE TO DHAMPUS (1650M)

    HIKE TO DHAMPUS (1650M) After breakfast, we'll start the leisurely trek to Pothana, walking mostly uphill through cultivated fields and local villages. This scenic Gurung village is inhabited by a mix of people (Gurung, Brahman, and Magar communities) and it offers a spectacular view of the Himalayan ranges including the Annapurnas. After having lunch at Pothana we descend to Dhampus through a rhododendron forest; this is an easy and relaxing day.

  • Day 8: DESCEND TO PHEDI AND DRIVE TO CHITWAN

    DESCEND TO PHEDI AND DRIVE TO CHITWAN We will take a short hike to the famous Chitwan National Park where many protected species live, including the Bengal tiger and the greater one-horned rhinoceros. We will spend three days at the edge of the Chitwan Park National Park. During your stay, you will have the option of a spectacular safari through the jungle with metre-high grass, in search of rhinos and crocodiles.

  • Day 9: CHITWAN – JUNGLE ACTIVITIES

    CHITWAN – JUNGLE ACTIVITIES After breakfast, your adventure holiday continues with canoeing in the Rapti River where you can see gharial, then a visit to the elephant breeding centre. After lunch, we'll proceed to the jungle for a guided safari where you'll see animals such as greater one-horned rhinos and antelope.

  • Day 10: CHITWAN – KATHMANDU

    CHITWAN – KATHMANDU After an early jungle walk and breakfast at the lodge, we transfer to Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan and fly to Kathmandu. Following the transfer to the hotel, you will have free time to go shopping on your own. 

  • Day 11: EXPLORING THAMEL

    EXPLORING THAMEL Today is a free day to explore Kathmandu at your leisure. Head back to Durbar Square to soak up the historical atmosphere of the city, wander through the busy streets of Thamel in search of a bargain, or visit local stupas - whatever you choose to do, make the most of your last day in Nepal. In the evening we will have a farewell dinner at one of the top Nepali restaurants. 

  • Day 12: FLY BACK TO UK

    FLY BACK TO UK This marks the end of our Nepali adventure.

Just got back from the Best of Nepal trip with TBLC and I am seriously depressed! This was a fantastic trip exploring what Nepal has to offer which I did not want to end so the post holiday blues are already set in!
From the chaos of Kathmandu with its numerous Stupa’s and temples to Pokhara with a more relaxed vibe and even paragliding, to the incredible scenery of the Annapurna mountain range and then the jungle and animals in Chitwan national park, this trip has a little bit of everything. I do not think you will ever find people nicer than the Nepalese who cannot do enough to help and always with a smile on their face. The guides were amazing, all transport was taken care, details were communicated in a timely manner, the food was fantastic and easily catered for a pescatarian, nothing was too much trouble. One huge bonus is that I have gained some amazing new friends from within the group. Yes, I have already booked my 4th trip with TBLC and am looking at booking a 5th and 6th. I was a bit apprehensive at first as I was traveling as a solo woman but there was no need to worry at all. The trip was well organised down to the last detail. The UK guide, Keith kept us company whilst the local guides ensured our trip was the most memorable one ever.

All aspects of the trip was well planned and executed…great accommodation, great food, great tours, great locations, great transfers, etc etc etc. If there was anything not included, guides where happy to accommodate any requests as well.

As for Nepal…just exquisite. The people of the country were the friendliest and kindest I’ve met. Service always with a genuine smile.

Well where do we start, beginning to end it was a true adventure, the trip was titled ‘The Best of Nepal’ and I truly believe I have seen the best of Nepal. 12 days out of country. Alot of travelling as expected with this style of trip. We’ve seen wild rhinos, paraglided over Pokhara. Seen more temples than I ever knew existed. We were fortunate to visit during Diwali, so many vibrant colours, sights and experiences.

Nepal is truly the most generous and beautiful place I have ever been, from the people to the mountains I was in awe!

Keith was our guide and what a great guide he was. Took time to show us the hidden gems and gave us insight to the places we were!

    • Can I get my visa in Nepal?

      You can apply online but we recommend getting it at the airport on arrival in Nepal.

    • Do I need any vaccinations to enter Nepal?

      We aren’t certified to give medical advice so always recommend you consult your doctor or a travel doctor, as they will know which vaccinations you have had already and any additional ones necessary for your trip. You can also take a look here for travel vaccination information and advice on bringing medication into the country.

    • What currency should I take with me?

      You can pay for some things with major currencies like USD, EUR or GBP, but for day-to-day spending, you should always carry the local currency (Nepalese Rupee)

    • What accommodation can I expect during the trip?

      You will be staying in a hotel every night on a twin-share basis unless, of course, you opt for single occupancy on the trip builder!
